results-supplement-cover-2009-march-aprilCRI editors have prepared yet another significant selection of research results for publication. We are counting No 13 in the research*eu Results series, as usual edited and produced on behalf of the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities (OPOCE).

In Lisbon in 2002, the EU Heads of State or Government committed themselves to increase the EU's investment in research from 2 to 3% of its GDP by 2010. Yet, compared to other major world economies, the EU is finding it difficult to invest more in research and reach the 3% threshold. Many tangible measures since 2002 nevertheless show that the EU, its Member States and regions are keen on increasing research funding.

Funding in this issue went into projects researching the often neglected issue of depression and anxiety following illness, food supply chains in various EU Member States and virtual reality techniques for providing healthcare and rehabilitation services in rural areas, to quote just a few examples. An events section reminds the reader not to miss important events in the field of research.
