Dr Michael L. Rogers PhD (pt), MSc (Hons 1)

Dr Michael Rogers is currently Director of Engineering of Symantec (Norton Systems etc.) with world-wide responsibilities. He read chemistry, physics and mathematics at the University of Nottingham, UK, obtaining the highest first class honours in the UK. His PhD research was nuclear magnetic resonance studies of quinone charge-transfer complexes. He joined IBM at their Palo Alto, CA development laboratory where he played a leading role in the evolution of IBM transactional systems.

As IT manager for Macys, CA, he managed their complete transformation from traditional manual and mechanical operations, to fully automated systems. In 1979, IBM recalled Michael to work on the newly-emerging relational data base systems where he became a colleague and friend of the late Dr Edgar Codd.

Subsequently, he was recruited VP Emerging Technology at Bank of America, and by 1995, had become well known in the technology industry, and was recruited by Gartner as Director of Consulting for world-wide assignments providing technology architecture and security consulting to the Fortune 100 corporations and government departments.
