  Internal seminar on cloud computing

  Secretary General of the Digital Enlightenment Forum, Luxembourg

  The speaker at the internal seminar ‘Cloud computing: pitfalls and opportunities’ was Mr Jacques Bus, Secretary General of the Digital Enlightenment Forum and former Head of Unit Trust & Security in ICT Research at the European Commission. In 1988 he joined the European Commission and worked in leading positions in various areas of the Esprit and IST research programmes, including IT infrastructure, programme management, software engineering and, since 2004, trust and security. He was strongly involved in the establishment of the security theme in FP7.

  CRI attended Champions' Night for Children

  

  CRI attended this year’s third charity Gala Dinner ‘Champions’ Night for Children’, which was organised by the Belgian non-governmental association Sauvez Mon Enfant at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium in Brussels/Anderlecht. The Gala Dinner held on Thursday, 27 October, aimed to raise more funds for the association.

  Sauvez Mon Enfant supports the Emergency and Intensive Care Unit of the Queen Fabiola Children’s University Hospital based in Brussels, the only Belgian university hospital entirely reserved for children’s medicine. The association is almost completely supported by private volunteers who offer their time and enthusiasm to provide assistance and raise funds for the hundreds of children that, unfortunately, need emergency and intensive care every year.

  As digital technologies integrate themselves faster and deeper into all facets of private life and socio-economic activity, the issues of security, privacy and trust acquire a new and central significance. Confronting these issues involves intertwined technological and legal/regulatory approaches.

  During the seminar, Professor Metakides presented today’s situation surrounding security and trust in the digital world, the overall context and emerging issues.
